Voice Over

Conference Interpreter, Translator & Voice Over Artist

The key skill of a voice over artist is the ability to speak clearly and effectively in the language they’re working in. Coupled with this is the need to convey nuance and emotion. Combining these two skills means that the recorded voice over is accurate, clear and interesting to listen to.

There are two types of voice over:

Plain voice over translation
This is where I work from audio or video in one language and record ‘over’ it in another. The spoken words of the original are first translated into the new language and the audio is recorded whilst reading that text. This requires the ability to speak clearly and match the pace and intonation of the original speaker.

I can either work from a text that you provide, or I can do the translation for you in addition to recording the audio.

Lip-syncing or dubbing
This involves recording new audio at the same time as the original video is played back. To do this I have to follow the lips of the speaker and match the words as closely as possible, while maintaining the right intonation and emotion. I draw on my acting experience to do this, which is an advantage in this form of voice over work.

I use Spanish and English for voice over work and I can record audio at your chosen studio, or I can arrange a studio for you, if needed.
